One man is dead and another three have been hospitalized following a string of violent incidents across Philadelphia overnight, police said.
According to police, the deadly incident happened at about 1 a.m., along the 4800 block of Sansom Street in West Philadelphia.
At that time, officials said, officers responded to find a 28-year-old man suffering from several wounds to his head, chest, back and abdomen that were quickly determined to be stab wounds after no shells were discovered at the scene.
However, police could not immediately say how this incident occured.
The victim — who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on — was taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said, he was pronounced at about 1:11 a.m.
Before this incident occurred, at about 11:40 p.m. on Sunday night, in the city’s Oxford Circle section, police said an 18-year-old man was injured after being stabbed in the face.
In this incident, police said, officers responded to the 6700 block of Castor Avenue to find a teen after he had been stabbed several times in the face and neck by an unknown attacker.
Officials said the teen was taken to the hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Then, shortly after this stabbing incident, police said, at about 12:26 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of North 29th and Gordon streets in Philly’s Strawberry Mansion community.
Here, officials said, two men — one 34-years-old and the other 30-years-old — were struck by gunfire when an unknown shooter fired, at least, 36 shots.
The younger man was hospitalized after suffering gunshot wounds to his legs and arm while, officials said, the 34-year-old man was shot in his left leg and right foot.
Both men, police said, were hospitalized in stable condition.
As of about 6:15 a.m., no arrests had been made in any of these incidents and no details were provided for any attackers possibly involved.
But, officials said, investigations into all three incidents were ongoing.
Officials are asking anyone with information on any of these incidents to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.
