A person was found dead inside a burning home Wednesday night in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

Crews were called at 7:10 p.m. to the one-story residence in the 7000 block of Majestic Bay Street, near Farm Road and North Decatur Boulevard, according to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue news release Thursday.

Metropolitan Police Department officers, in the area on an unrelated call, began evacuating neighboring residences, the news release said. Firefighters arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames.

After the fire was brought under control, crews conducted primary and secondary searches and found the body of an adult inside the home, the news release said. The person’s identity has not yet been released.

Two Metro officers were evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

There is $150,000 in estimated damages to the home, the news release said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

The North Las Vegas Fire Department also assisted.
