If I wanted to get the surface finish given from a textured build plate, all over the part, how would I go about this?

It's going to end up having mostly flat sides, the few scallops don't need to be textured but I've been asked if it can be done.

I thought maybe leave the bed heater on post print and lay the part down with possibly a small weight on it? Let it heat up and press down for a while?

I'm not sure if the bed heater would get hot enough?
Maybe a hot air gun over the surface of the part first but it might be better to press it against a cold build plate to stop it sticking?

Another solution might be a different filament. The fibre filaments can leave a surface finish like the build plate and I've seen various 'textured' filaments advertised.

I know it’s not exactly what you’re after but this is fun to play with

I've tried that on a few prints, seems pretty good but the aim here is a consistent surface finish over the whole part and they like the texture the plate gives.

I will give that a try, I have a few textured plates so will see how it goes
