During a podcast, Marco Rubio humorously talked about his neighbor, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and their pets.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared an amusing story about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, during an appearance with his wife, Jeanette, on The Katie Miller Podcast.

Rubio said Hegseth and his family live just two doors down from him, and their pets have occasionally crossed the boundary between the neighboring homes. Rubio jokingly described Hegseth's cats as unusually confident, and even “arrogant.”
During the conversation, Rubio said that he and Jeanette have two dogs, including a particularly intelligent goldendoodle that has learned how to open doors.
That ability once led the dog into an unexpected visit.
Rubio said Hegseth and his family had been at home watching television when the front door was open. Because the family has cats, Rubio said, his dog apparently wandered inside.
The dog entered the living room, looked around and seemingly realized it had gone into the wrong house.
"It looked around, realized I'm in the wrong house, and turned around and walked out," Rubio recalled.
The story prompted laughter from Miller and Jeanette, who discussed the pets' tendency to wander between the neighboring homes.
Rubio then turned the story around, explaining that one of Hegseth's cats regularly appears on his porch when he returns home at night.
Rather than running away when Rubio approaches, the cat apparently remains completely unfazed.
Rubio said the animal looks at him as if he is the one who does not belong there.

"It's a very arrogant cat," Rubio said, describing the feline as sitting on his porch and staring at him with an attitude that seemed to say, What are you doing in my house?
Rubio added that the cat's actual home is only two doors away.
He joked that most cats would run when someone approached them, but Hegseth's cat simply sits there, its tail moving as it stares back at him.
"What's up?" Rubio recalled thinking as he watched the animal.
Rubio initially said he had never thought of Hegseth as "a cat guy."
Jeanette explained that the family ended up with cats because the children wanted an animal. Rubio also stated that Hegseth has a large family, joking about the number of children and cats in the household.
Rubio said he does not even know the name of the cat that has apparently claimed his porch as its territory.
