The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out employing multiple overlapping disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology.

Applications are invited for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) for the following time-bound sponsored project as per the details given below

Post : Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) (One position only)

Name of the project & Duration of the Project : “Efficacy of Montelukast in reducing incidence of warning signs and severe disease in patients with dengue fever: a phase2, double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized trial” funded by ICMR Tenable till-28.02.2027

Educational Qualifications : PhD in any area of Life Sciences or Masters with minimum three years of experience. Candidate with first author publication in a reputed journal will be preferred. 

Job description & Desired Knowledge : The selected candidate is expected to work in a collaborative project between NII and AIIMS, New Delhi to study the effect of Montelukast in reducing dengue severity. Briefly, the candidate will examine the immune profile, immune cell phenotyping, measuring T cells specific to Dengue virus, antibody quantitation and serum-cytokines levels. Most of the work will be performed with PBMCs and serum collected at multiple time points from the study participants.

Interested candidate should have basic concepts of cellular immunology and expected to have skills in clinical research. 
• Hands-on experience in Flow Cytometry, blood processing and PBMC isolation, PBMC handling, Cell sorting, Cell culture, ELISA, virus serotyping, Real-Time PCR, Bioinformatics etc. 
Candidates with hands-on experience in the clinical immunology research of infectious diseases will be preferred. 
Emoluments : The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules, depending upon qualifications & experience : Rs. 56,000/- per month plus 30% HRA (As per funding agency norms

General Terms & Conditions : 
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time. 
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided. 
3. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same. 
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for. 
5. Apart from sending application in the prescribed format given below, candidates should send complete Curriculum Vitae along with the names of three referees. Curriculum Vitae should contain details of the experimental expertise and list of publications. 
6. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. 
7. The Interviews will be held in offline/online mode.
