New York Mets fan Adam Bayatti has gone viral on social media for challenging himself to run a mile for every home run the team hits this season.

“In 2015, we — me and my family — went to Citi Field and I watched the Mets play the Phillies,” Bayatti said, who was 7 years old at the time. “I've been a Mets fan since then.”

Bayatti, who is from England, has been documenting his running journey on Instagram.

"I'm out here today with my running shoes on, with my Mets jersey on because we hit three homers last night,” the baseball fanatic said in one of his videos.

Bayatti said he has to watch most games the next day from over 3,000 miles away in Manchester, where he is a college student.

“I'll quickly check before I wake up and have a shower,” he said about keeping up with the team, and his running streak.

The runner did have some setbacks earlier this year during the team’s 12-game losing slump, but his devotion never wavered.

“I did some calculations and in relative to a football season — or soccer — it's only the same as about three losses in a row in a regular football season,” Bayatti said. “So, it's not as detrimental as people think.”

And Bayatti said his love for the game and the team has “created a real community,” despite him thinking his Instagram page would never gain such popularity.

“It's such a weird feeling because I was never intending this Instagram thing to go as crazy as it has done,” Bayatti said.
