A naturalization ceremony was held at Erlanger Park on Wednesday.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee partnered with the Chattanooga Lookouts who hosted the naturalization ceremony at Erlanger Park prior to the team’s game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The ceremony was held in partnership with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

30 individuals officially became United States citizens. Members of the Nancy Ward Chapter and the Moccasin Bend Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution assisted with the ceremony providing welcome bags and refreshments for the newly naturalized citizens. The John Sevier Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, and members of the Ocoee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution led in the presentation of the colors.

The Choo Choo Chorus sang the National Anthem and God Bless America. Federal Judge Travis McDonough and Magistrate Judge Michael J. Dumitru presided over the swearing in of the citizens from 19 different countries.

After the initial ceremony, the new citizens were invited onto the field to again take the oath of allegiance in front of the game attendees.
