La alimentación complementaria autorregulada o Baby led weaning, es un enfoque de introducción de alimentos sólidos donde el lactante se autoalimenta con alimentos seguros, permitiéndole regular su propia ingesta en contraposición al método tradicional por lo que puede afectar su estado nutricional. El objetivo fue comparar el estado nutricional en lactantes con alimentación complementaria autorregulada (BLW) versus el método tradicional. La muestra se conformó por 60 lactantes, 30 lactantes con alimentación BLW y 30 lactantes con alimentación tradicional. Se evaluaron variables antropométricas y se estimó la ingesta de calorías y macronutrientes mediante Recordatorio de 24 horas de 3 días (2 hábiles y fin de semana). Se utilizaron pruebas t de Student, Chi cuadrado para comparar los grupos. Resultados: No se encontraron diferencias significativas en el estado nutricional entre los grupos. La ingesta de calorías, proteínas y grasas fue significativamente mayor en el grupo Tradicional en ambos rangos de edad (6-8 y 9-12 meses) (p < 0.05). Conclusiones: El tipo de método de alimentación complementaria no afectó el estado nutricional; a pesar de que el método de alimentación tradicional se asoció con una mayor ingesta de calorías y macronutrientes.
