The Italian Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the EJOCN, organised an international Conference in Palermo as a follow-up to the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). It focused on the progress made so far and the steps still to be taken to fully implement the ‘follow the money’ approach in combating organised crime.

The event brought together specialised prosecutors and police investigators, alongside senior judiciary and ministerial speakers to examine how financial investigations can be used more effectively to disrupt criminal networks and support prosecutions. The programme was structured around targeted presentations and thematic working groups; combining operational experiences, perspectives on national and EU regulatory frameworks, and strategic discussions. Through practical examples and targeted exchanges, the event highlighted the challenges, good practices, and opportunities for enhanced cooperation and implementation of the 'follow the money' approach.

Representatives of the EJOCN Membership attended alongside representatives of Eurojust, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, Europol and Italian institutions.
