With five seconds left on the clock, freshman guard Chance Gladden stepped back and made a jump shot to lift the Boston University men’s basketball team to a 75-73 win over the American University Eagles, sending the Terriers to the Patriot League quarterfinals. Prior to this matchup, the Terriers had just faced the Eagles in their regular season finale on Feb. 28, where BU also played to a slim victory, that time 68-65. Throughout the first half, the two teams swapped leads 12 times, but the Terriers carried a 47-38 lead at the half. However, American charged out of halftime to swap the lead again. The game continued to be back-and-forth until Gladden’s last second shot and the Eagles missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the final buzzer.
