Linus Sebastian is a Canadian YouTube personality, technology expert, and entrepreneur who has a net worth of $60 million.

Linus Sebastian is best known as the creator and longtime host of "Linus Tech Tips," one of the world's most influential technology-focused YouTube channels. He is also the founder and chief vision officer of Linus Media Group, a privately held digital media company that operates multiple YouTube channels, a large merchandise operation, technology-testing facilities, and several other businesses.

Unlike a traditional YouTuber who primarily earns advertising revenue from a personal channel, Sebastian built an integrated media company around his audience. Linus Media Group produces videos through "Linus Tech Tips," "ShortCircuit," "TechLinked," and other properties, while additional ventures include LTTStore, the subscription video platform Floatplane, and LTT Labs.

The value of Sebastian's ownership became much clearer in 2023 when he revealed that he and his wife had rejected an acquisition proposal valuing their company at approximately $100 million. Rather than sell, Sebastian stepped away from day-to-day management while retaining ownership and creative control. His combination of company equity, years of operating profits, merchandise income, and other assets has made him one of the richest YouTubers in the world.

Linus Gabriel Sebastian was born on August 20, 1986, in British Columbia, Canada. He developed an interest in computers and technology at a young age and later attended the University of British Columbia, though he did not complete a degree.

Sebastian's professional path began at Canadian computer retailer NCIX. He initially worked in sales before becoming involved with the company's online video efforts.

NCIX placed Sebastian in charge of presenting technology videos intended to promote computer products. Because producing videos for the company's primary channel was relatively expensive, Sebastian helped create a lower-cost secondary YouTube channel in 2008 called "Linus Tech Tips."

The informal approach worked. Sebastian's detailed but accessible explanations of computer hardware gradually attracted a dedicated audience that was interested in more than simply buying products from NCIX.

Sebastian eventually left the retailer and founded Linus Media Group in 2013 with several colleagues. He was able to take the Linus Tech Tips brand with him, allowing the channel to become the centerpiece of an independent media company.

Under Sebastian, Linus Media Group expanded far beyond computer reviews. "Linus Tech Tips" became known for elaborate PC builds, experiments, buying guides, factory tours, technology investigations, and unusual engineering projects.

The company developed additional channels covering technology news, product unboxings, gaming, educational explainers, and clips from "The WAN Show," Sebastian's long-running weekly technology podcast with Luke Lafreniere.

LMG also developed a major direct-to-consumer product business through LTTStore. Products have included clothing, water bottles, backpacks, tools, screwdrivers, and other technology-oriented accessories. Merchandise eventually became a larger source of company revenue than YouTube advertising.

Sebastian also helped create Floatplane, a subscription video service that allows creators to distribute content directly to paying fans. Another ambitious project, LTT Labs, was established to perform standardized and repeatable testing of computers, displays, power supplies, and other electronics.

In 2023, Sebastian revealed that an unnamed buyer had offered to acquire Linus Media Group in a deal valuing the business at roughly $100 million. He described the proposed consideration as approximately $60 million in cash and $40 million in equity from the acquiring company.

Sebastian and his wife, Yvonne Ho, who own the company, rejected the proposal.

That offer provides an unusually useful benchmark for estimating Sebastian's wealth. A private company cannot simply be valued at an old acquisition offer forever, and the gross purchase price would not equal Sebastian's personal net proceeds after taxes and other considerations. Even so, a serious nine-figure offer for the business strongly supports a personal fortune in the tens of millions of dollars.

Linus Sebastian is among the richest and highest-paid YouTubers in the world, but YouTube advertising accounts for only part of his financial success.

In a detailed 2025 interview, Sebastian showed channel analytics indicating that "Linus Tech Tips" had generated roughly $26 million in lifetime YouTube AdSense revenue. That is an enormous amount of advertising income, but the more revealing number was how small AdSense had become relative to the broader company.

Sebastian explained that product sales had grown to account for more than half of Linus Media Group's revenue during the period discussed. Fully branded videos, conventional sponsorships, subscriptions and memberships, and YouTube advertising supplied additional income.

That diversification is important when estimating his fortune. A third-party YouTube earnings calculator looking only at video views could significantly underestimate the economics of Linus Media Group because it would miss merchandise profits, sponsorship integrations, Floatplane subscriptions, and the value of the company itself.

Sebastian served as CEO of Linus Media Group until 2023. He eventually concluded that managing an organization with more than 100 employees was pulling him away from the creative and technical work he enjoyed.

Former Corsair executive Terren Tong was hired as CEO, while Sebastian moved into the newly created position of chief vision officer. The move allowed him to remain a primary on-camera personality and influence the company's products and strategy without overseeing every aspect of daily operations.

Linus is married to Yvonne Ho, who has played a significant role in Linus Media Group and shares ownership of the company with him. They have three children and live in British Columbia.
