Soeur’s pre-fall collection is coming through, even though we can all cackle at the thought of anyone buying blazers, knits, or coats EVER AGAIN at the moment.

I haven’t fully engaged with Soeur yet, although I nearly bought their soft beige viscose twill mac last year (alas, even a size 6 was just too swampy on my frame so I had to pass). What Soeur seems to get very right is brand positioning. It’s got the understated design language of Toteme or Lemaire but at a much lower price. The stores feel high end (even snooty) with products beautifully steamed and merchandised. The imagery is also rigorously considered; clean, aspirational but styled in a way you can relate to (shout-out to co-founder, exBonpoint stylist, Domitille Brion).

The product itself swings between Scandi-minimalism-with-a-twist and Indian bohemianism. There’s the structure of chalky denim and paper-crisp shirts alongside very soft, silky tops and dresses, the Armani-meets-Gigli draped and wrapped scarf necklines are a current signature but styled with techy outerwear and cool-girl footwear.

On my radar for pre-fall are the white pleated dirndl (I referenced the look a while back in May), the roomy, ecru Kurt carpenter jeans* (above) and the plum technical Jura cagoule* (above). Add a jazz shoe in cream* – with a complementary coloured sock – to finish.
