Frontline employees in Peterborough and across the UK will see a pay rise of up to 5.6%, taking minimum starting pay to £15.10 per hour from 27 September 2026.

Amazon has announced a pay increase for frontline operations employees in the UK, meaning annual salaries will start at a minimum of £31,408, and in some locations including Northampton, £33,488.

This represents a significant investment in Amazon's UK workforce.

The minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees will rise by up to 5.6%, to £15.10, and by 5.2% to £16.10 per hour, depending on location. The change takes effect from 27 September 2026.

Amazon's minimum starting pay has risen by 80p per hour in the past year, and by 44% since 2022. The rise will benefit tens of thousands of frontline operations employees across the UK.

John Boumphrey, Amazon UK Country Manager, said: “Our frontline teams are the backbone of our business, and this pay increase reflects that. Starting salaries now exceed £31,000 a year, and we'll continue investing in our people because they deserve it.

In addition to the pay increase, Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package – including, from 1 October, 10% off eligible online groceries and everyday essentials on Amazon.co.uk, uncapped, covering fresh groceries and categories such as cleaning products, nappies and pet food. Employees also get access to private medical insurance, life insurance, income protection, subsidised meals, employee discount including free Prime membership and a company pension plan from day one.

The company also provides career development through its Career Choice programme, which funds 100% of skills development through nationally recognised courses, up to £3,000 per year. This support is available regardless of whether the training leads to career advancement at Amazon or elsewhere, with more than 30,000 employees having participated since the programme launched in the UK in 2014 – and a £800m global investment in the programme announced in June. 

It comes after Amazon committed to invest £40 billion in the UK from 2025 to 2027 – the largest investment in the company's history outside the US – with more than £15 billion already delivered.
