UNITED NATIONS, September 22. /TASS/. The United States will immediately begin significantly expanding its military presence in Greenland, including by building two bases on the island, US President Donald Trump said in an address to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"We will immediately begin the process of developing a large military presence in the appropriate locations. We'll be building two very major military bases," Trump said.

"No US adversary will ever be permitted to establish a military presence in Greenland anymore, or make sensitive investments there without our written approval," the US president stressed.

He noted that this is provided for by agreements between the United States and the leadership of Denmark and Greenland.
