Four games in the second week of the season upended the top half of Varsity Maine boys soccer poll. Lewiston takes over the No. 1 spot after overcoming two-goal deficit to earn a thrilling 3-2 victory over Camden Hills. The Windjammers were ranked fifth last week, while the Blue Devils were sixth.

Thornton Academy took down last week’s No. 1 and reigning Class A champion Scarborough 1-0 on Friday. That vaulted the Golden Trojans from outside the rankings to No. 8.

Deering made an even bigger leap, from unranked to second after taking down the previous No. 2, Gorham, which also had the most first-place votes in the season-opening poll.

Finally, Yarmouth was third last week, only two points behind Gorham, but had to settle for a draw against Greely on Wednesday.

Four teams garnered first-place votes this week. Lewiston leads the way with four, Brunswick has three and Yarmouth and Edward Little received one apiece. The Red Eddies also defeated Camden Hills last week.

The Varsity Maine boys soccer poll is based on games played before Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
