A storm is making its way along the shoreline in New Jersey and Delaware on Wednesday, bringing with it high winds and a potential for coastal flooding and beach erosion.

A First Alert was issued early Wednesday and will continues into early Friday due to the potential for coastal flooding, high winds and beach erosion that could be caused by this stormfront.

Off the coast of New Jersey, winds are expected to hit 40 m.p.h. on Wednesday while temperatures are expected to be cool.

These conditions are expected to last through the week as coastal flooding is expected to remain a concern through Thursday evening.

Also, it should be noted, a risk for floods will be elevated during high tide.

According to the National Weather Service, in New Jersey's Sussex County and Delaware's Kent County, residents could see flooding in coastal and bayside communities. Roads, the service warned, could become unpassable at times.

Also, the NWS said that those in areas around Rehoboth Bay and the Indian River should be aware that there could be "major tidal flooding impacts" due to this storm system.

Out in the ocean, waves could hit between eight and 15 feet high.

A storm along the coast line has brought impacts to the Jersey Shore on Wednesday as it brings potential for high wings and flooding. NBC10's Ted Greenberg has a look at how local fishing boats are dealing with the storm. 

NBC10's Ted Greenberg met a fisherman in New Jersey who decided to stay ashore on Wednesday because of the storm.

"It's dangerous to fish in this weather," said Danny Lavecchia, a fishing boat owner. "The boats can be pretty safe mostly. But, the dredges don't work. They don't tend bottom. We can't catch the clams and it does get dangerous."

The storm could continue for several days before a Nor'Easter is expected to move across the Jersey Shore come Saturday.

Though, this storm system is not expected to bring much wet weather inland.

By Sunday, the storm system should move away from the coastline.
