A 71-year-old woman from Oak Park died after she was struck by the driver of a concrete truck while crossing the street at a four-way stop on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Just before 9 a.m., Ann Marie LoPrieno, an Oak Park resident, was struck while crossing the street at the intersection of North Boulevard and Euclid Avenue in Oak Park, right outside the Oak Park Fire Department headquarters, officials said.
Local police and fire departments responded to the scene, and paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she was initially listed in critical condition. She was pronounced dead very shortly after she arrived at the hospital, authorities said.
Aerial footage captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 in the aftermath of the crash showed the street shut down as investigators worked. Police said the street was closed for approximately five hours throughout the investigation.
The concrete truck could also be seen sitting in the street in the video, stopped over the crosswalk while facing east on North Boulevard.
Officials said the driver who struck her was a concrete supplier working on an ongoing streetscape project along Oak Park Avenue and was traveling from the jobsite when they struck LoPrieno. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
Oak Park police are continuing to investigate the crash.
No additional information was immediately available.
