MARIPOSA, California (Sept. 21, 2026) A procession of first responders accompanied the two pilots killed on Sunday, September 20, 2026 when their Type-1 helicopter crashed on the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other first responders from across the country were on hand to pay their respects along the procession route which ran from the Mariposa Airport to Modesto.

 The Dome Fire is currently 15 percent contained and mapped at 3,388 acres under the command of the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and California Complex Incident Management Team 3. The US Forest Service, the US Wildland Fire Service, and the members of California Complex Incident Management Team 3 all share our deepest condolences to the friends, families, and colleagues of the two pilots and to the Price Valley Helitack Crew.

 The incident remains under investigation by National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
