Get your moving truck stuck under a Storrow Drive bridge? At least lunch is on the house.

Pauli’s in the North End is offering a free Storrow Spuckie to anyone whose moving truck gets stuck under one of the notoriously low-clearance bridges on Storrow Drive on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

“Consider it Pauli’s way of easing the shame and officially welcoming them to the neighborhood,” the restaurant said in a press release.

The promotion is a cheeky nod to an infamous Boston tradition that arrives with the annual Sept. 1 move-in date: when some trucks inevitably attempt to pass beneath Storrow Drive’s low bridges, only to discover that the clearance isn’t quite high enough. The result is often a truck with its roof ripped off — and a driver who has officially been “Storrowed.”

But this year, at least there’s a consolation prize. 

Pauli’s Storrow Spuckie is a 24-inch Italian sandwich piled high with mortadella, ham, salami, provolone, vegetables, oil, and balsamic on a large Italian roll. The sandwich normally sells for $24.99 and will be available through Sept. 30. 

On Tuesday, the restaurant will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. for “Storrowed” drivers to claim their 24-inch prize. Pauli’s is located at 65 Salem St.
