Popular TikTok stars Squirmy and Grubs have revealed that they are expecting their first baby after previously suffering an unsuccessful IVF journey.

The Minnesota-based duo, whose real names are Hannah and Shane Burcaw, announced the happy news on Instagram.

Alongside a series of heartwarming images holding their baby scan, taken by Kasey and Tyler Rajotte at Studio Twelve:52, the lengthy caption read: 'We are beyond ecstatic to announce that we're expecting our first child this coming January!

'Hannah is 20 weeks pregnant, and although we've been thoroughly enjoying this special time in privacy so far, we've also missed sharing all the joy with you, and there's SO MUCH to share!'

The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, added a series of other updates too including that Shane would be launching a brand new baby blog to document their journey into parenthood.

'We want to be thoughtful and intentional about what and how we share our child with the world,' it read.

They are also using the moment to fulfill baby registries for other expecting parents.

'After going through IVF unsuccessfully for many years, we understand all too well the difficulties that many people experience when trying to conceive, and how seeing announcements can feel. Our hearts go out to you'

The couple have built up a legion of followers across both YouTube and TikTok by giving candid insight into their lives.

Shane has spinal muscular atrophy, a neuromuscular disease that causes muscles to deteriorate over time.

He has been in an electric wheelchair since he was two years old, and can barely move his legs, arms and hands.

In a follow-up video to their YouTube channel about the pregnancy, Hannah, who is able-bodied, said that so far it had been 'super easy.'

'I have had such a great time,' she explained, adding that she had not suffered vomiting or significant nausea.

However, the mother-to-be did share that she had battled some food aversions during the first trimester and had recently begun experiencing pelvic pain, in part due to being hyper-mobile.

Shane shared: 'Figuring out how I am going to most effectively father and parent a child with my disability has been top of mind for the last 20 weeks...

'There are going to be a big number of people who are not happy about this pregnancy announcement. 

'There are going to be horrible, horrible people in the comments and in the message boards and in our emails telling us that we are making the worst mistakes of our lives, that I cannot and should not be a father because of my disability. 

'That kind of rhetoric and belief has really affected me as a person and it's something that I grapple with all the time.'

He concluded: 'Life is moving at a million miles an hour and we're having a baby. Life is good. We are so in love.'
