NEW BOSTON, MICH. — Pizza manufacturer Champion Foods LLC has recalled certain batches of its Motor City Pizza Co. 5 cheese bread from various retail chains due to Salmonella concerns. Some of these retail chains include Walmart, Costco and Target.

Champion Foods said the cheese bread contained a dry milk powder that California Dairies, Inc. recalled in April over a potential Salmonella contamination. The cheese bread recall includes the single pack with the UPC code 8 70375 00511 1 and the 2 pack with the UPC code 8 70375 00509 8, which both have sell by dates of between Feb. 3, 2027, and April 21, 2027, that are located on the front of the box. Meanwhile, a letter sent to Costco members said the recalled pizza bread sold at its stores may be identified by the number 1453434 and was sold between Feb. 6, 2026, and May 26, 2026.

“The recalled milk powder was supplied to a third-party manufacturer that provides a seasoning blend used in our 5 cheese sauce blend,” Champion Foods said in a statement sent to the Food and Drug Administration. “Routine testing conducted by the seasonings blend manufacturer prior to use in the production of the 5 cheese bread showed that the seasonings batches tested negative for Salmonella.”
