WASHINGTON, September 30. /TASS/. US billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates has allegedly changed his position and no longer believes that artificial intelligence can cause events that will lead to the death of one billion people, US President Donald Trump said.

"Now he's not saying that anymore," he said. "I don't care what he said Sunday because I can tell you yesterday he didn't say that at all. He actually went the opposite, but look, it's one voice. He actually went the opposite."

The American leader did not explain exactly where he heard Gates speak on Monday.

On Sunday, in an interview with NBC News, the billionaire criticized Trump’s approach to AI and stated the need to introduce government measures to prevent the risks associated with AI. Recently, Gates has been constantly calling on the public to restrict AI development. In August, he stated that malicious actors could use these technologies for cyberattacks, fraud, and spread disinformation. This could cause damage to hospitals, financial institutions, and energy and government systems.
