A High Desert State Prison inmate died last week at a hospital in the northwest Las Vegas Valley, according to state corrections officials.

Rodrigo Macias, 43, died Sept. 17 at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, the Nevada Department of Corrections said in a news release. An autopsy was requested.

Macias was serving a sentence of 36 to 96 months at High Desert for possession of a stolen credit card and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, according to the release. He entered NDOC custody on Feb. 12, 2024, from Clark County.
