MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. The Flydubai plane that transmitted a distress signal indicating a possible hijacking while in flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv earlier on Wednesday has landed at Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Airport, a source in a Middle Eastern air traffic control service told TASS.

The plane activated an emergency signal and was diverted to Saudi Arabia after a violent incident between the pilots, Israel’s Channel 12 reported.

TASS has compiled the key details about the emergency.

- A Flydubai passenger plane en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv signaled an emergency on Wednesday morning, according to Channel 12.

- The pilots first transmitted code 7700, signaling a general emergency, before code 7500 was activated, indicating a possible hijacking, the TV channel said.

- Afterwards, contact with the flight was lost.

- There were approximately 180 passengers on board the plane, Channel 12 said. It was denied permission to land in Israel and was diverted to Saudi Arabia near the airspace of Jordan.

- Fighter jets were scrambled after the distress signal, the TV channel continued.

- The plane had reached the border of Jordan before it was diverted to Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia without actually entering Jordanian airspace, data from Flightradar24 indicated. No further updates about the flight were available afterwards.

- The plane landed at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, a source in a Middle Eastern air traffic control service told TASS.

- Later, Flydubai confirmed to TASS that the flight had safely landed at Saudi Tabuk Airport.

- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting with Defense Minister Israel Katz and Transport Minister Miri Regev in the wake of the emergency, Channel 12 said.

- The situation is under control, and measures will be taken to return the Israeli passengers on board the flight home, Netanyahu’s office said.

- Flydubai has informed Israeli authorities that a backup plane will soon be sent from the UAE to bring the Israeli passengers home from the kingdom following the incident en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Ynet reported.
