GARLAND— Jazz BeCuzz Arts Group will bring together musicians, artists, community leaders and supporters Oct. 10 for its Jazz BeCuzz Jazz Brunch & Community Awards at the Granville Arts Center in Garland.

The afternoon event will celebrate music, arts, culture and individuals making a difference across the Dallas-Fort Worth area while raising funds to support Jazz BeCuzz Arts Group’s arts education, community programming and creative opportunities for people of all ages.

Guests will be treated to live jazz performances, food and presentations honoring individuals and organizations for their contributions to the community. Denise Lee will serve as mistress of ceremonies, with Martine Elyse Phillippe as the featured speaker.

Performers scheduled for the event include Lee, Tom Braxton, Andrea Wallace, Mahogany TheArtist and Nila Miller-Bynum. The University of Jazz Swag Alumni and the Jazz BeCuzz All-Star Band also will take the stage.

The event’s Community Awards will recognize four honorees:

• The “All That Jazz” Community Impact Award: Communities Foundation

• The “Keep the Beat” Arts & Culture Award: Artes de La Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts

• The “Standing Ovation” Legacy Award: Victoria Meek

• The “Next Note” Rising Star Award: Sean J. Smith

Jazz BeCuzz also will present its “BeCuzz of You” recognitions to Thom Brownlee, Andrea Wallace, Fred Walker, Tashia Mitchell, Bill Rogers and the organization’s “Golden Girls”: Valorie Lewis, Juanita White, Dorothy Jo Marshall and Joann.

Organizers said proceeds from the fundraiser will help Jazz BeCuzz continue providing arts, education and creative experiences throughout the DFW community.

The organization expressed appreciation to its current sponsors, including Martin Crockett, Dr. Robert and Nancy Donachie, and Judy Donachie, each recognized at the silver sponsorship level.
