The grand reopening of the historic Walnut Street Bridge has finally been set after a major do over costing over $52 million.

The celebration will be Saturday of next week at noon with the ceremonies lasting until 3 p.m.

One new feature of the bridge will be an elaborate new lighting system with the ability to change colors.

The bridge super structure was greatly enhanced, and the bridge gained entirely new decking of sturdy Alaskan cedar. It is also now painted a darker blue than before. 

The bridge was closed for 18 months while the work was underway.
