Scaler Music's "musical EQ" plug-in has just gained some additional dynamics capabilities and an all-new Live Band that allows users to control its harmonic EQ filters from their MIDI keyboard.
Scaler Music have recently released a new and improved version of their patented musical EQ plug-in, kitting it out with some additional dynamics capabilities and an all-new Live Band that allows users to control the harmonic EQ filters from their MIDI keyboard.
Scaler EQ Pro retains the key-aware Harmonic Peak filters that formed the basis of the original plug-in. Users can select their chosen scale, and the plug-in will only apply boosts to frequencies that fall into that key, while cuts will be applied exclusively to those outside of the selected key. The Magic Shelf filters remain, too, offering a low shelf that predominantly targets the Mid element of a stereo signal and a high shelf that favours the Sides. As before, the plug-in is still equipped with the ‘standard’ filters you’d expect to see in a more traditional EQ.
One of the headline features of the new version is its Live Band, a new control mode that creates filter bands based on incoming MIDI notes and allows users to ‘play’ the EQ from their controller keyboard. All of Scaler EQ Pro’s bands can be switched to dynamic mode, where they gain independent Threshold, Ratio, Attack and Release parameters and offer both compression and expansion. Alongside its dynamic bands, the new version of the plug-in has also gained new dedicated high- and low-frequency compressors.
