Bethan Psaila, Professor of Haematology in the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit, was presented with the 2026 Janet Rowley Award from the International Society for Experimental Hematology (ISEH) at the ISEH 55th Annual Scientific Meeting in Frankfurt, Germany. As part of the award, Bethan delivered the Janet Rowley Award Lecture, Exploring the MEGAverse – megakaryocytes, platelets and myeloproliferative neoplasms.

Established in 2020, the award recognises early-career scientists who have made outstanding scientific contributions to the field of experimental haematology. It is named in honour of Professor Janet Rowley, a pioneering human geneticist whose discoveries established the importance of chromosomal changes in blood cancers.

The award recognises the breadth of Bethan’s research, from fundamental studies of megakaryocyte and platelet biology and the bone marrow microenvironment to translational research in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), a group of chronic blood cancers. Her work seeks to uncover the mechanisms that drive these diseases and identify potential new therapeutic approaches.
