A performance by Chicago-born, award-winning artist Common is among the events moving indoors across the city this weekend, as both showers and thunderstorms are expected through Sunday.
The Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award-winning artist is scheduled to perform on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Chicago Live Festival, which is considered the largest free performing arts festival in the Midwest. The two-day festival, which runs on both Saturday and Sunday, will be fully indoors with performances relocated to the following venues:
Lake Stage performers will be in the Aon Grand Ballroom
East Stage performers will be in Festival Hall B
Ferrara Candy Wave Wall Stage performers will be in Crystal Gardens
West Stage will move to Food Experience
RHYTHM Beer Garden Stage will move to Lakeview Terrace
The festival is far from the only event being impacted by the weather.
The Alzheimer’s Association has postponed Walk to End Alzheimer’s – North Shore and canceled Walk to End Alzheimer’s – South Suburban. According to the association, a community celebration will be scheduled in the weeks ahead to recognize participants’ fundraising achievements.
Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley, of the 21st Ward, announced the following events would either be postponed or canceled:
Shredding event — Postponed
Red Line Extension Community Office Grand Opening — Rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 2
End of Summer House Bang — Rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4.
