State Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, has built a legislative record grounded in the same instinct that defined his 27-year career as a Portland Fire Department paramedic: showing up for people when it matters.
As Senate chair of the Transportation Committee, Nangle led passage of a two-year Highway Fund budget that passed unanimously, along with a package of five infrastructure bills signed into law last session. He’s also sponsored legislation requiring online car dealers, like Carvana, to meet the same consumer protection standards as local dealerships.
His work reaches beyond roads and bridges. Nangle sponsored LD 1145, now law, giving mobile home park residents a “right of first refusal” to buy their community when it goes up for sale — protecting them from being priced out by out-of-state investors. The issue is personal: his own family ran a mobile home park in Massachusetts, and he’s seen firsthand how this kind of protection lets residents secure their community’s future. He also authored a law strengthening municipalities’ tools to enforce shoreland zoning, protecting local control over Maine’s waterfronts.
At a time when rising costs are squeezing families across Maine, Nangle has kept his focus on practical, constituent-driven solutions — infrastructure that connects communities, protections that keep pace with how people actually live, and support for those most at risk of losing their homes.
Senate District 26 is well served by a legislator who brings both hands-on experience
and steady follow-through to Augusta.
