This author was always mystified by Merc’s steadfast decision not to incorporate a frunk in these models, especially when key competitors from Tesla and Lucid use that space to great effect. In fact, Mercedes was so adamant it didn’t want anyone poking around under the hood that it was intentionally unintuitive to release and raise the thing, to the point where a small pop-out mailslot was installed in the driver’s side front fender for the sole purpose of adding windshield wash.

Added to the woodpile is the brute-in-a-suit Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, a devastatingly powerful large sedan whose gasoline powered engine and plug-in hybrid guts conspire to make nearly 800 horsepower and four-figure levels of torque. However, many talking heads are of the opinion this particular model isn’t gone for long, expecting it to return in time with a vengeance sans electrification. We tend to agree.

There’s a solid argument that the newly-introduced electric variant of the C-Class sedan will essentially replace the EQE sedan, even if the naming convention doesn’t quite align. The same could be said for the electric GLC posing as an indirect replacement for the EQE SUV, a notion put forth by the folks at Autocar, a UK-based publication.
