Megyn Kelly blasts 'needy' Madonna, 68, as she accuses star of having butt implants and at least two facelifts

Megyn Kelly has launched a blistering attack on Madonna, accusing the pop icon of looking 'desperate' and 'needy' as she criticized the singer's raunchy performance at the VMAs.

Megyn Kelly is on the warpath once again, and this time the Queen of Pop is in the firing line.

During Monday's episode on The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News host took a flamethrower to Madonna's latest VMAs appearance, dissecting everything from simulated sex acts to lasers emerging from performers’ bodies.

By the end of Kelly’s extended rant, Madonna, 68, had been branded 'needy,' slated for looking desperate and subjected to Kelly’s sleuthing into the possible cosmetic procedures behind her increasingly taut, pillowy appearance and her famously scrutinized backside.

However, the performance itself provided plenty of ammunition.

The conservative commentator described footage of dancers gyrating onstage and simulating sex acts, joking that the raunchy choreography looked more like an aggressive butt workout than anything resembling actual sex.

'I don’t think most people have sex like that,' she retorted.

And then there were the lasers. Kelly said Madonna appeared to mime pulling a laser out of her backside during the performance, before dismissing the whole spectacle as yet another attempt at provocation.

'Again, the picture of class,' Kelly said. 'It just telegraphs needy to me.'

During Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly took aim at the 68-year-old pop icon’s raunchy VMAs performance, mocking the simulated sex acts, gyrating dancers and lasers that appeared to shoot out from various body parts

The singer has spent more than four decades reinventing her image and pushing boundaries, becoming one of the most commercially successful and influential figures in modern pop music. But Kelly argued that the very quality that once made Madonna revolutionary could now be holding her back

Kelly said Madonna appeared to mime pulling a laser out of her backside during the performance, before dismissing the whole spectacle as yet another attempt at provocation

Kelly questioned whether Madonna’s performance was intended to shock audiences or simply ensure that she remained the center of attention.

The comment Madonna made about having 'been bowing down to people for too long' also left Kelly unimpressed.

'What the f***? Who?' Kelly countered. 'You’re Madonna. Who have you bowed down to? Give me a break.'

Kelly then took aim at Madonna’s vocals – or apparent lack thereof, pointing out that the singer appeared to be performing over a prerecorded track while barely moving her mouth. She stopped short of calling it conventional lip-syncing, arguing that Madonna wasn’t even bothering to convincingly perform along with the track.

And Kelly wasn’t buying the theory that Madonna was simply drunk. Her diagnosis was considerably harsher, saying the seven-time Grammy winner 'stinks of desperation.'

The conservative commentator then turned her attention to another part of Madonna’s performance: her decision to grind against a man in a bathroom stall while Charli XCX performed.

Kelly crucified Madonna for seemingly wanting audiences to picture her in the throes of postmenopausal sex. 'Okay, we get it,' Kelly said. 'You really want us to picture you having postmenopausal sex? Got it.'

It was a particularly brutal line of attack for a woman whose career has been built, in part, on making the public uncomfortable with its own ideas about sex, age and female desire.

She claimed that while Sabrina Carpenter had performed, Madonna later appeared onstage with her recorded vocals playing while she was not even moving her mouth. Kelly delivered a scathing verdict: 'She wasn’t even trying'

Pointing to photographs of Madonna’s lips, Kelly said the singer had once had what she considered naturally full lips.

The conservative commentator claimed she had researched older photographs of the singer and believed Madonna had undergone butt augmentation

But Kelly wasn’t merely interested in what Madonna was doing onstage. She wanted to know what, exactly, Madonna had done to herself.

Kelly claimed to have dug through old photographs of the singer and became convinced that something had changed dramatically below the waist, speculating that the singer had undergone butt augmentation.

'I believe Madonna had butt implants a couple of years ago,' Kelly said.

Kelly contrasted older images of Madonna, in which she said the singer had 'tight, amazing hamstrings and quads' and a 'very perky muscular bottom,' with more recent photographs.

'Then she did something,' Kelly said. That claim has not been medically confirmed, but Kelly was only warming up.

She also suggested Madonna appeared to have added padding to her underwear for the latest performance, making an already conspicuous derrière even harder to miss, again labeling the pop legend 'desperate'.

That word became something of a refrain throughout the segment, as Kelly argued that Madonna seemed determined to force audiences to keep seeing her through the same sexualized lens she occupied during the peak of her fame.

Then Kelly moved north to the face.

She also asserted Madonna appeared to be wearing additional padding in her underwear during the latest performance

Kelly concluded that Madonna had little left to prove, given her wealth, fame and musical achievements, and urged her to embrace a different form of empowerment

Kelly also claimed Madonna had undergone extensive lip injections and filler throughout her face. Pointing to photographs of Madonna’s lips, Kelly said the singer had once had what she considered naturally full lips. Now, Kelly argued, Madonna had gone 'full Kim Kardashian'

The broadcaster was careful to distinguish her own cosmetic-surgery speculation from established fact, but she had no shortage of opinions about what she believed Madonna had done.

Kelly said she had no objection to women getting work done, 'I’m not against facial work,' Kelly said. “I’m sure I will get a facelift someday. That’s fine.' Her problem, she suggested, was the apparent accumulation of procedures.

At least two facelifts, in Kelly’s estimation. And plenty of filler.

'You look old with a tight face, an oddly tight face,' she said, claiming Madonna’s lips had been substantially augmented, arguing that the singer’s formerly full but proportionate lips had given way to a much heavier, more inflated look.

Madonna, Kelly concluded, doesn’t look impossibly young. She looks like a 68-year-old woman who has had a lot of work done.

'There needs to be a point in life, in 2026 America, where women know the sex appeal is not required to be valued,' Kelly said.

Kelly held up Pamela Anderson as one possible model, noting the former Baywatch bombshell’s decision to strip back her makeup and embrace a less manufactured image.

She also invoked Tina Turner, praising the late superstar for remaining glamorous, sexy and physically formidable without turning every performance into an invitation to ogle her body.

'Tina was never raunchy. She was always the picture of class.' Kelly added, 'She could shake it like nobody’s business, while she was a great singing talent.'

She pointed to Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, who has embraced a more natural appearance in recent years, as an example of a former sex symbol successfully changing her public image

She also brought up Tina Turner, praising the late singer for remaining glamorous and physically commanding as she aged without making explicit sexual display the center of her performances

Kelly argued that Madonna could similarly find a new way to command attention. After all, she noted, reinvention was precisely what Madonna had built her career on.

'That’s what she was famous for, back in the 80s and the 90s and the early aughts, redefining herself,' Kelly said.

'Wouldn’t it be the ultimate trick… to do it yet again without that shit?' she asked.

Kelly said Madonna now had the money, fame and accomplishments to prove she had nothing left to demonstrate.

For Kelly, Madonna’s challenge now is not how to remain sexy, but how to redefine what being Madonna means at 68.

Madonna holds the world record as the top-selling female recording artist of all time, with more than 300 million records sold worldwide. She’s won seven Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, and declined a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame despite receiving an offer.

However none of that seemed to divert Kelly's persistent attacks.

Kelly ultimately said she felt sorry for the singer. 'What she’s doing here is degrading,' she said. 'It’s not working.'
