ABINGTON, Pa. — The Penn State Abington free public concert series resumes this fall with two performances — a big band jazz ensemble followed by a trio playing world music on bluegrass instruments.

Fans of any musical style or generation will enjoy the Andrew Neu Big Band at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Sutherland Auditorium on campus. Comprised of some of the most exciting musicians on the East Coast, the band's shows are inspired by big band jazz from the 1960s and 1970s. Neu, a Billboard-charting recording artist, has toured the world with Smokey Robinson, Bobby Caldwell and Diane Schuur. Learn more and RSVP for the Oct. 14 concert.

Mark your calendar for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, and return to Abington to enjoy the eclectic sounds of Simple Gifts. The trio performs world music on bluegrass instruments and draws on an impressive variety of ethnic folk styles, including lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer freilachs and haunting Gypsy melodies.
