LONDON, October 5. /TASS/. A decline in grain exports due to the destruction of Ukrainian ports could have catastrophic consequences for Kiev, the Financial Times said.

It said that after severe damage to its Black Sea ports, Ukraine has practically lost its main export route. Shipping in the Odessa Region was suspended.

Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Taras Vysotsky warned that if the port shutdown continues, Kiev’s losses from June 2026 to June 2027 will amount to at least $8 billion, or 20% of the 2025 export revenue. According to farmers, wheat prices have dropped from $220 to $130 per tonne.

The FT says that before 2022, Russia and Ukraine accounted for a third of the world’s wheat exports and 20% of corn exports.
