Gisele Bündchen may have once struggled to make sense of her “very upsetting” divorce from Tom Brady, but four years later, she’s looking at that painful chapter through a very different lens.
A source close to the 44-year-old supermodel revealed that the recent release of Lars Anderson’s book, Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, hasn’t bugged her at all.
“She always thought she would be married to Tom for the rest of her life,” the insider revealed to People. “The divorce was very upsetting, and she struggled to understand it at the time, but she’s not bitter.”

Bündchen has her “spiritual” side to thank, and she truly “feels the universe had another plan for her.” After sharing her life with the former NFL star for 13 years and having two children with him, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13, the road led her in another direction after her 2022 divorce.
She married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente in December 2025, just 10 months after she had a son with him that February.
“She feels so blessed to have become a mom again,” her pal added. “She loves the life she has with Joaquim and their family in Miami.”
According to Anderson’s book, there were plenty of people in Brady’s camp who saw how consumed he was with football and how it impacted his high-profile marriage.
“People need to understand that Gisele was a bigger international star than Tom,” said a former Brady teammate. “She was getting tired of living on Tom’s schedule and being somewhat in his shadow during football season. She has a lot of pride, too. And, I mean, how many times did you see Tom supporting her career? There clearly were imbalances there.”
Bündchen was also loud and clear about her desire for Brady to retire, which he did, and then un-retired a month later.
“I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” she said in a September 2022 ELLE profile. “I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose.”
The couple divorced in October 2022.
