The 42nd All Scotland Championships in Irish Dancing concluded at the weekend. Running from 1 October to 4 October 2026. The highly anticipated, four-day international major championship took place at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in the heart of Glasgow. As one of the most prestigious open majors on the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) calendar, the event brought thousands of elite solo and Céilí competitors, teachers, and spectators to Scotland from all over the world.

The Scotsman’s John Devlin went behind the scenes to see first hand the dedication and skill that goes into competing at the top in this traditional competitive dancing.

Hundreds of dancers took part in the event and were judged over the four days by a panel of judges from Ireland, the UK and USA
