Women: Wolves 2-2 Watford

Дата публикации: 04-10-2026 15:58:00

Watford FC Women picked up an away point against Wolves after a back-and-forth WSL2 encounter at the SEAH Stadium.
The Golden Girls came from behind to lead in Telford but the hosts were able to level after being awarded a penalty.
Wolves led when Georgia Marshall headed in a Melissa Lawley corner, before Eden Skyers struck against the bar when trying to strike back.
Vera Jones also came close to equalising but her low effort was tipped wide by Emily Orman.
Amber Hughes curled onto the crossbar from the edge of the area for Wolves following the restart, shortly before the visitors found their leveller.Substitute Poppy Wilson escaped behind the Wolves backline following Aoibheann Clancy’s free-kick into the box, and thumped home a finish from close range.
One quickly became two for Renée Hector's side as the momentum of the game turned.
Phoebie Poole got her head to Grace Neville’s swinging cross and the ball looped over Orman and in.
Wolves brought the game level again after the referee adjudged that Neville had blocked a shot with a hand, and Charlotte Greengrass converted from the spot.
The Golden Girls were desperately unlucky not to snatch the three points in stoppage-time, however, after Jones’ free-kick cannoned against the bar with the final kick.Reaction
Hector's side have now drawn three and lost two of their WSL2 matches after promotion last season.
"It’s frustrating as I feel like it’s another ‘nearly’ performance," she said.
"But I was really pleased with the application of the players from minute one.
"I asked us to come out and be brave, and to try and dominate the game with and without the ball.
"We've been in the final third so much, and it has not ended up with a shot, but today I can’t really say that.
"There’s a still element of being decisive and committing with it.
"I’m really pleased with the chances that we created. I knew it would be a ding-dong battle. "At 2-1 I thought the momentum was on our side but the penalty killed it.
"We were so close at the end, we’re not quite getting the rub of the green in terms of luck!
"We have to use this as a base to push on from.
"I felt for large parts of the game that we were the better team.
"It’s now about how can we take that momentum and start turning it into points. We just want to keep pushing on." What's Next?
Watford will return after the international break with a home game against Leicester City in the Subway Players Cup (Saturday October 17, 3:00pm KO).
The Golden Girls' second match in the league phase of the competition will be played at The Hive London.
