For more than 50 million Americans, tinnitus is a constant sound that disrupts sleep, derails focus, and makes silence feel out of reach. The American Tinnitus Association is the oldest nonprofit dedicated solely to improving the lives of people affected by tinnitus and funding research toward a cure.
ATA is funded largely by people like you: patients, families, clinicians, and friends who believe in a better future for people with tinnitus. Your contribution helps advance research toward better treatments and cures, expand education and resources, and strengthen a community that helps people live well with tinnitus and find support and hope when they need it most.
There’s no single right way to support ATA. Make a one-time gift or become a member with a recurring monthly or annual contribution. Gifts of $50 or more and recurring donors receive Tinnitus Today, ATA’s flagship publication featuring the latest research, expert guidance, and stories from the tinnitus community.
Tinnitus doesn't take a day off, and neither does your support. Monthly gifts give ATA steady funding we can count on all year, helping people find trusted answers and support today while we invest in better care and treatments for tomorrow.
Include ATA in your will or trust, or name us as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy. A legacy gift ensures the search for a cure continues for the next generation of people living with tinnitus.

Founded in 1971, the American Tinnitus Association is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity (Tax ID 93-0749558) and the nation’s nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to tinnitus. For more than five decades, ATA has advanced patient support, education, research, and public awareness. The organization holds a four-star Charity Navigator rating and Platinum Transparency status from Candid.
Research has been central to ATA’s mission for decades. Since 1980, ATA has invested more than $7.9 million across 149 tinnitus research projects spanning basic science, clinical research, treatment development, and patient care. In FY26 alone, ATA awarded more than $655,000 to five research projects, the largest annual research investment in its history. Together, ATA’s longstanding experience, scientific and clinical expertise, and deep connection to people living with tinnitus position the organization to translate research and evidence into meaningful support for the tinnitus community.
