A police probe is underway after a car crashed into a property leaving a gaping hole in its wall in south Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Guardwell Crescent in the Gilmerton area of the city at 10.37am following reports of a road traffic collision.

Images from the scene show a damaged vehicle, a large hole in the front wall of the property, and a severely damaged utility cabinet.

It is understood that paramedics attended the scene, but no one was taken to hospital as a result of the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported a heavy emergency service presence on the residential street, including up to six police cars, two ambulances, and two fire engines.

Police initially cordoned off the house and directed traffic away from the scene, but the road has since reopened.

In a statement, the force said they are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

Local residents have reported experiencing broadband outages following the crash. Vodafone is currently working to fix an outage in the area, though it has not been officially confirmed if this is directly connected to the collision.
