With the Big Brother Naija Season 11 finale just days away, Aikou has emerged as one of the housemates attracting considerable attention in the race for the ultimate prize.

The 25-year-old freelance teacher and web developer from Abuja has survived a season filled with twists, nominations and shifting alliances, and several indicators from his journey suggest he could be a serious contender when the final votes are counted on October 4.

Perhaps the biggest factor in Aikou’s favour is the early public support that propelled him into the season’s first major twist. When viewers voted for the male and female Gambits, Aikou secured 9.10 per cent of the male vote to become the male Gambit. Ricky finished behind him with 7.30 per cent, while Abi polled 6.07 per cent.

Although the Gambit status initially meant Aikou could not win the ₦160 million grand prize, that situation was later reversed. Through Biggie’s “Operation Release the Gambit” twist, viewers voted to return Aikou and Flora to the main competition. Both were subsequently reinstated as full housemates and became eligible for the grand prize.

That twist could prove significant in retrospect. What initially appeared to be a restriction on Aikou’s ambitions instead gave him guaranteed longevity in the competition and additional time to build relationships, establish his personality and remain visible to viewers. By the time he became eligible for the prize, he had already spent weeks inside the House.

Another factor is his ability to survive crucial moments late in the competition. During Week Eight, Aikou was among the housemates protected from eviction after Barry won the Head of House title and subsequently used his veto advantage to secure Aikou’s safety. Barry later became the first confirmed finalist.

Aikou also benefited from another important late-game development. When Barry exercised his Ultimate Veto Power in Week Nine, he chose “Immunity For All”, sending all 10 remaining housemates into the finale. Aikou therefore entered the final stretch alongside Barry, Bluethopia, Flora, Keivo, Oyin, Ricky, Sheba, Temi Nkem and Tram.

His late-game visibility was further underlined when Keivo won the Week Nine Head of House challenge and selected Aikou as his Loft mate. Although the choice did not give Aikou immunity, it kept him at the centre of the week’s developments.

There was another revealing moment during the finalists’ final campaign. Each contestant was given time to make a case for winning and then support another finalist. Aikou chose Oyin as the housemate he would back, while Keivo and Barry both selected Aikou as their respective choices. Barry, in particular, cited Aikou’s potential and the difference the prize money could make for him.

Aikou’s own pitch also presented him as someone who sees the prize as a means of turning limited resources into something bigger. That message could resonate with viewers who have followed his journey from his early days in the House to the final week.

His story also has an unusual element that distinguishes him from some of the other finalists. He entered the competition as a Gambit, effectively guaranteed a place at the end but initially barred from winning. He then had to rely on viewers once again to regain eligibility for the prize. The journey from being outside the title race to becoming one of the final 10 gives his campaign an additional narrative.

However, the available evidence does not establish that Aikou is currently leading the official vote. The organisers have not published a complete, comparable breakdown of the final voting figures for all 10 finalists. Online polls and earlier public votes can indicate pockets of support, but they are not substitutes for the official finale vote.

What is clear is that Aikou enters the final stage with several measurable factors in his favour: an early public vote that established a support base, survival through multiple twists, reinstatement as a genuine contender, late-game visibility and endorsements from fellow finalists.

With voting now determining the winner and the finale scheduled for October 4, Aikou’s early support and eventful journey have put him firmly in the conversation surrounding the Season 11 crown. The decisive factor, however, will be the final votes cast by viewers before the voting window closes.
