The European Space Agency (ESA) invites media representatives to attend the ESA's ESAC Open Day 2026, which will take place on Saturday 3 October at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid).

The European Space Agency (ESA) invites media representatives to attend the ESA's ESAC Open Day 2026, which will take place on Saturday 3 October at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid).

During this open day, the public will have the opportunity to discover how science and space exploration contribute to expanding our knowledge of the Universe and improve our lives on Earth.

Through talks, workshops and meetings with specialists from ESA, the AEE, the CAB and various companies in the sector, visitors will be able to learn about some of the Agency’s  most significant missions, as well as the opportunities the space sector offers to the younger generation.

12.00 Arrival and media registration

12.30 ‘Spain in Space’

A discussion open to the public on the main stage about Spain’s growing role in European space activities, its scientific leadership and the future of exploration, featuring:

  • Carole Mundell, ESA Director of Science and Head of ESAC
  • Representatives from the Spanish Space Agency
  • Sara García Alonso, ESA reserve astronaut

13.15 Meeting with the spokespersons and interview opportunities

14:00 End of the media programme.

Members of the media are invited to attend at 12:00 to cover this session. However, the Open Day will be open from 10:00 to 18:00 and you may remain on the premises for as long as you wish to explore and cover the rest of the activities.

Accreditation and interview requests

Media representatives wishing to attend must register by 12 noon on Friday 2 October via https://blogs.esa.int/forms/esa-media-briefing-form/

Requests for individual interviews should be sent to , comunicacionesac@esa.int  or once accreditation has been completed, and will be confirmed subject to availability.
