OpenAI has started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT to all users, along with a new capability called Intelligent UI that lets answers include interactive interfaces such as charts, forms, and tappable buttons.
According to the company's announcement on October 7, 2026, GPT-6 reaches Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers first, and the rollout expands to the Free and Go tiers starting the next day.
OpenAI introduced the first GPT-6 models for paid customers last month. This release targets the more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT each week, the company says. Paid tiers get GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna, and OpenAI describes both as tuned for everyday conversation.
How Intelligent UI Changes ChatGPT AnswersOpenAI says it trained GPT-6 to compose responses from text, visuals, and interactive elements, picking the format based on the question. A comparison can appear side by side. An explanation can turn into an interactive diagram. When plain text is the most useful answer, ChatGPT still uses plain text.
The company gives these examples of what Intelligent UI can produce:
Behind the feature is a library of native, streamable components and a compiler that processes the interface while the model generates it, so the interface appears progressively instead of after the full response is finished. OpenAI acknowledges that the model's design judgment still needs work.
Faster Responses and Safety Changes in GPT-6GPT-6 can also begin answering while it is still thinking. OpenAI says the model builds an answer across partial responses and takes the user's waiting time into account.
For questions that need web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant, the company claims. In an internal evaluation of everyday agentic tasks, OpenAI reports that GPT-6 Extra High starts answering in the same time as GPT-5.6 Medium while scoring better than GPT-5.6 Extra High.
On safety, OpenAI says GPT-6 resists attempts to bypass its safety training more strongly than GPT-5.6 Sol, particularly attacks that adapt across multiple turns, and is trained to avoid unnecessary refusals of harmless requests. The results are documented in a published system card.
Users do not need to change any setting to get the new model. GPT-6 with Intelligent UI appears in the Chat tab as the rollout reaches each account, while Enterprise availability depends on workplace admin settings. The update covers only the Chat experience, and OpenAI says the models powering Work and Codex are not changing with this release.
