DTX Manchester 2026 brought together technology leaders, innovators, and security experts to explore how organisations can navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape. Across the show floor and conference programme, a consistent theme emerged: success in modern enterprise IT depends not just on adopting advanced technologies, but on aligning people, processes, and accountability at scale.

Automation and AI Take Centre Stage

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of new enterprise AI and automation capabilities designed to address a growing execution gap inside organisations.

At the forefront, Footprint IT introduced OutpaceAI, an autonomous execution engine aimed at eliminating operational bottlenecks. Positioned as a “digital workforce,” the platform integrates directly into existing enterprise tools and augments both engineering and delivery functions. Its promise is straightforward but ambitious: enable businesses to scale output without increasing headcount by reducing manual toil and accelerating decision-making.

This reflects a broader industry shift. Rather than focusing purely on infrastructure speed, organisations are now targeting execution speed, how quickly strategy can be translated into outcomes. OutpaceAI’s governance-first, LLM-agnostic architecture also signals growing enterprise demand for flexibility and control in AI adoption, particularly as concerns around vendor lock-in and traceability intensify.

Strengthening Enterprise Foundations Through Automation

Alongside emerging AI platforms, established players demonstrated how automation is being applied to core operational challenges such as security and cost control.

Celerity’s presence at the event highlighted this evolution. Following its acquisition of Ranger4, the company showcased an expanded proposition combining hybrid cloud expertise with advanced automation and AI consultancy. Its focus areas—secrets management and FinOps—address two persistent pain points for enterprise IT leaders: hidden security risks and opaque cloud spending.

The emphasis on automating secrets management underscores a critical issue. Credentials such as API keys and encryption tokens remain one of the least visible yet most exploited vulnerabilities. By automating their lifecycle, organisations can significantly reduce exposure while enforcing stronger access controls.

At the same time, Celerity’s FinOps approach reflects a shift toward embedding financial accountability directly into engineering workflows. Rather than treating cost as a retrospective concern, businesses are increasingly seeking real-time visibility and control, aligning technology investment more closely with business outcomes.

Cybersecurity: From Technical Function to Business Imperative

While automation and AI dominated the exhibition floor, the conference programme brought a sharper focus to cybersecurity leadership and organisational responsibility.

The panel “Shared responsibility, singular success: Building a unified front against cyber risk” encapsulated one of the event’s most urgent discussions. Featuring voices from government, law enforcement, and industry, the session challenged the persistent tendency to treat cybersecurity as an IT-only function.

Bringing together perspectives from government, law enforcement, and regional business support, panellists including Ben Morris, Tanya Arturi, and Dan Giannasi will explore how gaps at the board level translate directly into business vulnerabilities—particularly in areas like supply chain risk, where assumptions often outpace reality. Moderated by David Howell, the discussion unpacked how leaders can shift the narrative, positioning cybersecurity not as a technical safeguard but as a driver of trust, growth, and competitive advantage.

The session also addressed the operational strain facing today’s security leaders. From limited resources to rising expectations, the “Triad of Pain” is reshaping the profession. Panellists shared practical strategies to bridge the communication divide between technical teams and the C-suite, clarify the limits of technology in an AI-driven era, and rethink responsibility models to embed resilience across functions—from procurement to HR.

A key theme was the need to reframe cybersecurity as a business enabler rather than a constraint. When positioned effectively, security becomes integral to building trust, protecting revenue, and sustaining competitive advantage.

The event made one thing clear: technology alone is no longer the differentiator. Organisations that succeed will be those that unify their approach, aligning innovation, security, and leadership into a single, cohesive strategy.
