The prospect of Tyson Fury fighting boxing legend Mike Tyson has been proposed with the former receiving an offer to do so, his promoter Frank Warren has confirmed.

Over the last two months, footage of the 53-year-old Tyson working out has whetted the appetites of fans hoping he would return to the sport.

Tyson has been linked with facing old foe Evander Holyfield for his comeback and Fury entered his name in the fray by revealing he had said yes to fight his idol in a charity bout.

And speaking about that possible encounter, Warren - who co-promotes Fury alongside US operator Bob Arum - says he would not be involved in that if that was to happen as it's something he isn't 'interested' in.

'The offer Tyson has was given to him,' Warren told Metro.co.uk. 'There has been talk about Mike Tyson doing an exhibition with Tyson Fury. There has been a conversation, but not with me. To be quite honest, it's not something I'm interested in.'

Tyson, who turns 54 at the end of this month, hasn't fought professionally since 2005 and Warren believes pitting Fury against him would be bad for boxing - unless it was a choreographed exhibition.

'Mike is old. He's not any better than when Danny Williams and Kevin McBride beat him,' Warren continued. 'I'm totally against it all to be honest.

'Mike fighting Evander Holyfield or Roy Jones Jr or Tyson Fury. It's wrong.

'They're not past their sell by dates, those sell by dates have disintegrated. They shouldn't be doing it and people shouldn't be encouraging it. If anything goes wrong, it comes back on boxing.

'There will be some idiots who pay to watch this. 'If the two Tysons were to have an exhibition to raise money for charity, then that's okay - as long as it's choreographed.

'I haven't got a problem with that. But anything else is crazy.'
