Tyson Fury's third fight against Deontay Wilder could be held on Christmas Day, with talks in place about holding the bout in Australia.

With dates of July 18 and October 8 no longer in the pipeline due to the coronavirus crisis, Fury's promoter Bob Arum is reportedly considering taking the fight to Australia at the end of 2020, when the prospect of fans in stadiums is more realistic.

And Australian promoter Dean Lonergan is keen to host the fight on Boxing Day at the 30,000-capacity Bankwest Stadium in Sydney, which would be Christmas Day evening in the United States.

'When Bob came out and said that we are talking to "our friends in Australia", I'm the one he's talking to,' Lonergan told the Sydney Morning Herald.

'It's my proposal, I put it to him with budgets, how we'd do it, the whole lot.

'Bob has been an incredible partner and ally for me in the world of boxing. I just had a thought six weeks ago that if these guys can't do a major fight in Las Vegas or New York, why not come down here where I know we can get a crowd.

'We are flexible around the timing, but if we did it at 1.30pm on Boxing Day, it would be beamed back into the States on Christmas night.

'It's an excellent relationship, I have enormous respect for Bob since he came down here with Manny Pacquiao [to fight Jeff Horn]. This could be a massive historical event.'

After Fury knocked Wilder out in Las Vegas, the Bronze Bomber enacted his option of a rematch, with a third fight in the pipeline after February's bout and the draw in December 2018.

An all-British unification clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua is the fight most boxing fans want to see, but Fury himself admits that he first has to take care of Wilder again.

Joshua, meanwhile, is set to face mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev next up before any fight against Fury can materialise.
