ADAM Audio have just introduced two new DSP-equipped subwoofers, and a new ADAM Control software platform that will replace their existing a Control management tool.
ADAM Audio’s monitoring range has just been expanded with two new DSP-equipped subwoofers, the Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO. The new arrivals are being launched alongside ADAM Control, new software platform that will provide management and calibration of all of the company’s current and future network-enabled monitoring systems.
Sub8 PRO & Sub10 PROAs their names suggest, the Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO are loaded with eight- and ten-inch low-frequency drivers respectively, with both versions employing fibre- reinforced paper cones and elasticated rubber surrounds. The combination is said to allow considerable driver excursion while maintaining the mechanical integrity required for accurate, controlled bass reproduction. ADAM Audio say that careful attention was paid to the porting, with the resulting design resulting in more consistent air speeds along the port lengths and less turbulence. Onboard DSP then manages crossovers, filtering and equalisation, helping the new arrivals to deliver consistent performance across their frequency and SPL ranges.
An LFE Mode provides a cutoff tailored to Dolby Atmos systems, while Wide Mode allows the subwoofer to operate freely across its full available range. Helpfully, a rear-panel bypass input makes it possible to toggle the system’s bass management on and off with a footswitch.
The new subs’ analogue line-level connectivity is complemented by an AES3 digital input that’ll accept 24-bit signals at sample rates up to 96kHz.
ADAM ControlBoth of the new subs can be managed and calibrated over Ethernet via ADAM Control, a new management and calibration software that is being launched alongside the new arrivals. Acting as a successor to a Control, the free software offers precise adjustment of equalisation, gain, phase and delay settings across stereo and multichannel Sub PRO and a Series systems.
Sonarworks IntegrationADAM Control offers two distinct calibration possibilities for stereo and multichannel systems. Users can carry out calibration manually using the software at no additional cost, or opt for the more automated approach offered by Sonarworks’ SoundID Reference software. When taking the second option, profiles that are created in SoundID Reference are transferred to the Sub8 or Sub10 PRO's onboard DSP. Calibration then runs directly on the speakers themselves, so there is no correction plug-in to bypass before exporting a mix and no extra processing required by the user's computer.
Both a Series and Sub PRO customers can benefit from an exclusive 60-day trial of SoundID Reference, as well as receiving a 25% discount on a full license if they decide to purchase.
