Kimberly Guilfoyle is resigning from her role as U.S. ambassador to Greece, the White House said on Tuesday morning. The decision comes after weeks of reports that she sought payment from a Trump donor in exchange for access to administration officials.

"We have asked Ambassador Guilfyole to resign, she has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well," Katie Zacharia, the new White House press secretary, said during her first briefing on Tuesday.

Guilfoyle – the former fiancée of Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. – later confirmed her departure from the post. As the move ends the diplomatic career of one of Donald Trump's longest-standing political allies, there is renewed focus into her life, including her ex-husband.

Eric Villency is a businessman and design executive who is the former husband of Guilfoyle and the father of her only child, Ronan Anthony Villency. Although their marriage ended in 2009, Villency and Guilfoyle have maintained a cordial relationship that Guilfoyle publicly described as a friendship spanning several years.

Their connection brought attention to them in November 2025, when Guilfoyle spoke about Villency during an interview with Greek broadcaster ANT1. Her comments gave the public insight into their relationship after divorce, years after she moved on to a relationship with Donald Trump Jr., who has largely kept his personal life out of the political spotlight.

Eric Villency is known for his connection to Villency Design Group, a firm involved in interior design, product development and related design services.

His professional portfolio includes work connected to fitness brands such as SoulCycle, Peloton and Rumble, as well as projects involving hospitality, corporate interiors and consumer products. According to his official company biography, his experience spans industrial design, technology, interior design and brand identity. The company's current website also shows manufacturing and logistics capabilities alongside its design services.

His professional background is quite different from Guilfoyle's career in law, television and politics. Guilfoyle previously worked as a prosecutor before becoming a television personality, including as a host and contributor at Fox News. She later became active in Republican politics and served as a prominent supporter of Donald Trump.

Villency has generally maintained a lower public profile than his former wife. His name has appeared in talks around Guilfoyle's personal life because of their marriage and their son. The two have remained connected despite separating more than 15 years ago.

Villency and Guilfoyle married in May 2006 in Barbados. Their son, Ronan Anthony Villency, was born on Oct. 4, 2006, in New York, according to PEOPLE. The marriage lasted approximately three years before the couple divorced in 2009. Ronan was still a child when his parents separated, with them continuing their connection as co-parents.

Villency was Guilfoyle's second husband. She was previously married to Gavin Newsom, the California politician who later became governor of the state. Their marriage lasted from 2001 to 2006.

Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. began dating in 2018 and became engaged in 2020, although their separation became public in late 2024.

Guilfoyle spoke highly of Villency in her November 2025 interview with ANT1, according to The Daily Beast. Discussing the father of her son, she said, "I have a wonderful relationship with Eric Villency, the father of my son Ronan."
