Officer not facing criminal charges in deadly Poughkeepsie shooting

The New York State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations (OSI) has finished its investigation of a 2025 fatal officer-involved shooting in Poughkeepsie. The AG's Office said the investigation determined that the use of deadly force against Brian Czornyj was justified, and couldn’t be proved otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt in a trial.
