Candace Cameron Bure broke down on Special Forces while explaining how much she relies on her husband, Valeri Bure, to lead, and how unsure she feels taking charge herself.

She met Valeri when she was 18 and he was 20. The former professional athlete and Olympian, now 52, has been her husband since 1996.

I don’t feel confident in my voice.” She explained that testing herself was part of why she wanted to take on the competition: “I want to step up.”

It assigns those roles by gender rather than giftedness or whether a husband is a good leader or the wife is a good follower.

It is strength under control.” She described them as “equal in importance,” with different roles in their marriage.

She also came away disappointed in how she’d handled the team challenges, saying her fear affected the people competing alongside her.
