A useful addition to the ISA comp would be a reproducible suite of cryptographic workloads beyond BLAKE2s.
I build/maintain rscrypto, a cryptographic primitive lib w/ portable impls of SHA-2, SHA-3, BLAKE2, BLAKE3, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA, w/ no_std support and first-class RISC-V (as well as IBM Z/POWER) testing.
I’m really interested in contributing a reference suite to help compare candidate ISAs under leanVM. This just feels pretty important.
Specifically, I propose measuring:
Guest instruction cycles/execution-trace size
STARK proof-gen time/peak memory
Proof size
Hashing, Merkle-tree ops, and PQ sig verification
My current RISC-V results are native perf measurements, not zkVM proving benches. I feel like the next step would be to target leanVM’s specific RV64IM execution env and compare equivalents on other viable ISA targets.
Would this be useful @soispoke? Might it actually help inform the ISA decision? Do you have a preferred workload or guest ABI for me to target?
Get back to me here - I’ll build this out and see what it looks like?
